Ananya Panday weighs in on Bollywood remakes Bollywood diva Ananya Panday is now relishing in the success of her new film, Gehraiyaan.
Among other things, the Liger actor discussed the practise of remakes in Bollywood and recreating popular South films.
It should be noted that the 23-year-old actor has previously appeared in one remake, Pati, Patni Aur Woh.
Ananya revealed in a recent interview with ETimes that she wants to produce more new work and go down a route where there is more unique, fresh stuff for the public. She stated that she was no longer sure how she felt about remakes.
She then went on to remark, “I’m hoping we don’t have to do any more remakes. This makes me very pleased. This road we’re on, where we’re telling a more creative, bolder, more challenging tale. So I’m in that point where I don’t want to see any more remakes.”
The actor also commented on the habit of Bollywood directors replicating stories from the South, saying, “I believe they understand precisely what their target audience desires. They also work with different types of magic. Personally, I’m not sure how I feel about remakes any longer.”
