Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Poland will not play its 2022 World Cup play-off against Russia in Moscow on March 24, according to the president of the Polish football association on Saturday.
On Saturday, the crisis entered its third day since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion that has killed scores of people, prompted more than 50,000 others to leave Ukraine in less than 48 hours, and generated concerns of a larger confrontation in Europe.
“The time for chit-chat is done. It is past time to take action”Due to the Russian Federation’s intensification of aggression in Ukraine, the Polish squad does not intend to participate in the play-off versus Russia,” stated Cezary Kulesza, adding that it was the “only correct decision”.
