RAWALPINDI: Faiz Hameed, former director general (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), has been sentenced to 14 years in prison on charges of engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act, and misusing authority, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.

According to the ISPR, the procedure of Field General Court Martial against Faiz Hameed, previously Lieutenant General, began on August 12, 2024, under terms of the Pakistan Army Act that will last 15 months.

“The accused was tried on four charges related to engaging in political activities, violation of the Official Secret Act detrimental to the safety and interest of the State, misuse of authority and government resources and causing wrongful loss to persons” , a press release stated.

“After lengthy and laborious legal proceedings, the accused has been found guilty on all charges and sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment by the Court, which has been promulgated on 11 December 2025” , according to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The Pakistan Army’s public relations department further stated that the Field General Court Martial followed all legal procedures and that the accused was granted all legal rights, including the right to a defense team of his choosing.

According to the ISPR, the criminal has the right to appeal to the relevant forum.

The convict’s involvement in fomenting entrenched political unrest and instability in cohorts with political groups, as well as other concerns, is being addressed separately, according to the ISPR.

Faiz Hameed was indicted last year on allegations of political activity, breach of the Official Secrets Act, and other crimes.

The Pakistan Army’s public relations wing also stated that Faiz Hameed’s involvement in events related to causing agitation and unrest, leading up to multiple incidents, including but not limited to the 9th May 2023 incident for fomenting instability at the behest of and in collusion with vested political interests, is being investigated separately.
