RAWALPINDI: On Wednesday, Lt Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated that all 33 terrorists engaged in the attack on the Jaffer Express had been killed, along with 21 passengers and four FC officers.
The operation was conducted in stages, and all terrorists were killed, according to DG ISPR.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif told a private news station that the operation went well and that no hostages were hurt. He also mentioned that area inspections are still being conducted and that the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) is inspecting the train.
According to Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, terrorists killed 21 train passengers prior to the security forces’ action. He also mentioned that three FC troops who were on a railway picket were slain and that one FC soldier died during the operation.
According to him, the operation was carried out extremely carefully and precisely, with snipers first aiming at and eliminating the suicide bombers.
According to information supplied by Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, on March 11, at around 1 PM, the terrorists stopped a train carrying 440 people near Bolan. They first destroyed the railroad track before taking the passengers hostage.
He added that the region is challenging, remote from highways and inhabited areas, and that the rescue effort was initiated right once, with the captives being released in stages.
The army, air force, Frontier Corps, and SSG commandos participated in the operation, according to DG ISPR.
He said that the terrorists spoke with their masterminds in Afghanistan via satellite and utilized the captives as human shields.
The rules of engagement have been modified in the wake of the Jaffer Express assault, according to DG ISPR, who further emphasized that terrorists with no ties to Islam, Pakistan, or Balochistan will never be tolerated.
