Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah, who have founded their own Awaam Pakistan party, went to social media site X (formerly Twitter) to announce their involvement in the sit-in after Friday prayers.
SLAMABAD ( The Post) – Former PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail have declared their participation in the opposition coalition Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayeen-i-Pakistan’s (TTAP) sit-in outside Parliament House on Friday.
Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah, who have founded their own Awaam Pakistan party, announced their involvement in the sit-in after Friday prayers on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Awam Pakistan’s leadership, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail, has agreed that the organization would completely participate in the sit-in planned by the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aaeen Pakistan (TTAP). This peaceful sit-in is apparently being organized in protest to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s loss of sight in one eye and the government’s claimed refusal to grant access to his personal physicians and family. The decision was decided last night by TTAP at a meeting attended by Awam Pakistan’s leadership,” according to the X post.
“Denying any prisoner timely and adequate medical care is immoral, cruel, and unlawful. Imran Khan is not only Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, but he also leads the country’s largest political party.
“Awam Pakistan will join the TTAP sit-in outside Parliament right after Friday prayers today.
“We firmly believe in the rule of law, the constitutional rights of the people, free and fair elections, and genuine democracy — and we will always stand with the people in their struggle for these principles,” their message said.
The PTI’s Senate and National Assembly leaders, Allama Raja Abbas Nasir and Achakzai, planned a sit-in on Thursday after the Supreme Court was informed that PTI founder Imran Khan’s right eye had just 15% vision left, provoking a furious response from the party.
“The peaceful protest is being staged in response to the alleged deprivation of vision in Imran Khan’s one eye, and the government’s refusal to allow access to his personal doctors and family.”
In a post on X, Dr Zafar Mirza, APP’s central spokesman, stated, “Imran Khan’s vision is at jeopardy until he receives immediate medical care! Awaam Pakistan is part of the PTI’s peaceful protest and will remain until he receives the medical attention he is legally entitled to.”
Imran Khan’s vision is jeopardized if he does not seek immediate medical attention! Awaam Pakistan is participating in the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan’s peaceful demonstration and will remain there until he obtains the medical attention he is legally entitled to.
