LAHORE – Today marks the 29th anniversary of the death of revolutionary poet Habib Jalib (Saturday).

Habib Jalib, who was born on March 24, 1928 in the Indian Punjab area of Hoshiarpur, captivated people’s hearts with his basic yet appealing manner.

He is one of Pakistan’s most renowned Urdu poets, who championed democratic values while vocally opposing martial law and authoritarian government.

Sar-e-Maqtal, Zikr Behte Khoon Ka, Gumbad-e-Bedar, and Kulyaat-e-Habib Jalib are among his most renowned collections.

On this day in 1993, Habib Jalib died in Lahore.
