KARACHI: Central Punjab defeated Sindh by 77 runs in the 28th match of the current Pakistan Cup, courtesy to a great all-round effort by Zafar Gohar, to seal their place in the semi-final, while Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Balochistan had already qualified.

In the final-round encounter between CP and Sindh, Zafar’s heroics helped the home team to a thumping 77-run triumph against the third-ranked Sindh.

In a must-win game, CP bat first and reach a respectable score of 261 in the 49th over before losing all of their wickets. With fifty of their own, right-handed opener Ahmed Shehzad and all-rounder Zafar lead the batting order, while Umar Akmal added a fast 37.

Ahmed remained the top-scorer for the home side with 68 off 75 balls, laced with nine boundaries. Zafar scored 51 off 62 balls with four boundaries and two sixes, while Zafar scored 51 off 62 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.

Muhammad Umar led the way for Sindh with three wickets, while Abrar Ahmed came in second with two. On the other side, Sohail Khan, Mohammad Asghar, Danish Aziz, Saim Ayub, and Mohammad Taha each made one scalp.
