To ensure a level playing field for all adolescent cricketers, the Pakistan Cricket Board used cutting-edge scientific procedures to conduct age verification tests on 2,976 participants ahead of the City Cricket Association U19 50-over event, which begins on May 21.

To radiologically estimate ages, top radiologists in the country were consulted, and scientifically established procedures were applied. X-rays were taken on several body joints to boost accuracy in these tests, which cost PKR 10 million. Leading radiologists then reviewed the results. This was in contrast to traditional practise, which solely evaluated wrist x-rays.

Players have been detected manipulating their ages to obtain an unfair edge in age-group contests in recent seasons, which has not only harmed the spirit of the game but also put deserving young cricketers at a disadvantage, limiting their growth and development.
