WELLINGTON: Alyssa Healy struck a superb century and shared the best partnership of the current ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 with Rachael Haynes to lead Australia to a 157-run victory against the West Indies and into the final.
The strong Australian side has extended their unbeaten record in the ongoing season of the women’s world cup, defeating the West Indies by a mammoth 157 run margin.
Batting first, Australia amassed a respectable total of 305/3 in the allocated 50 overs, owing to excellent performances from Healy and Haynes. To set a firm foundation, the opening partnership amassed 216 runs for the first wicket, the most for any wicket in this world cup.
Healy, who was scoring at a faster rate, fell short in the 33rd over after a magnificent century. The wicket-keeper hitter hit 129 from 107 balls, including 17 boundaries and a six.
Haynes, on the other hand, was unlucky to lose out on her century by 15 runs when Chinelle Henry caught her on 85 in the 36th over. During her excellent innings, the left-handed hitter faced 100 balls and smashed nine boundaries.
