The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hopes to make 650 million dollars from its planned quadrangular competition, which would also include India, Australia, and England.
The concept, which would see Pakistan, India, England, and Australia participate in an annual single-league T20 event, will be formally tabled at the ICC Board meeting next week in Dubai, according to media reports.
The PCB has scheduled the event for September-October, which officials feel is an ideal period because it coincides with the start of the season in Australia, India, and Pakistan, as well as the end of the English season.
The current idea is for a single-league structure with six league games followed by one-off or best-of-three finals played over two weekends. The tournament’s hosting rights are scheduled to be rotated, and the ICC will have ultimate control over the event.
According to media reports, the document predicts that such a tournament could produce USD 650 million in broadcast and commercial rights, with the revenues distributed among the four teams and other ICC members. It is unknown how the revenue will be distributed, although it is assumed that a sizable portion would go to non-participating Full Members and Associate Members.
